Lasting Power of Attorney

Health & Welfare

A Health and Welfare LPA allows your Attorney to make decisions on your behalf about your health and welfare if there comes a time when you are unable to make these decisions for yourself.

A Health and Welfare Attorney can generally make decisions about things such as:

  • Where you live
  • Your medical care
  • What you should eat
  • Life-sustaining treatment (if authorised)

A Health and Welfare LPA can only be used when it has been registered at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) and only when you don’t have the mental capacity to make decisions about your own welfare.

It is important to be aware that an LPA can only be used once it has been registered at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).

For more detailed advice about making a Health and Welfare LPA, call our office to arrange an initial, no-obligation interview.
