Lasting Power of Attorney

Property and Financial

A Property and Financial LPA covers decisions about your finances and property.

If there ever comes a time when you can’t manage your financial affairs, the Attorney will do this for you.

This would enable your Attorney to deal with day-to-day matters such as:

  • Paying bills
  • Investing money
  • Arranging repairs to the property
  • Paying the mortgage
  • Managing your bank accounts; and, if necessary
  • Buying or selling your home

It is possible to restrict the power you give in an LPA or place conditions on what your Attorney can do. If you do wish to put limitations in place, this can be discussed.

It is important to be aware that an LPA can only be used once it has been registered at the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).

For more detailed advice about making a Property and Financial Affairs LPA, call our office to arrange an initial, no-obligation interview.
