No fault divorce law

The no-fault divorce law came into effect on the 6th of April, 2022. Our legal costs in dealing with a divorce on your behalf have been reduced to reflect the change in procedure.

The main changes in divorce law were: -

  • A joint application for divorce can be made
  • There is no longer an option to contest/defend a divorce
  • There is no need to use blame to prove that your marriage has irretrievably broken down
  • A minimum proposed timetable of 26 weeks for the divorce to be finalised

Please do not hesitate to contact us to book a free half-hour, no obligation, appointment to gain some advice and support about applying for divorce and other matters such as child arrangements and finances.

If you have any questions in relation to the above or require further information, please contact our Family Law department.
