Public Funding
TMJ Legal Services would like to make sure that everyone in the community has equal access to our expert legal services and to further this objective we hold Legal Services Commission Specialist Quality Marks in the areas of Family Law and Housing.
Financially eligible clients will gain free advice and assistance in these areas of law. We find out if you are eligible at the first interview and ask you to come with evidence of income by way of 4 weeks’ wage slips, tax credits or evidence of benefits received from the DWP.
This scheme, more commonly known as “Legal Aid”, is available on a full range of matters including:
- Divorce
- Separation
- Children Issues
- Domestic Violence and Civil Injunctions
- Property disputes between people who are living together but not married
- Housing
- Wills (in some circumstances eg over 70, disabled or caring for a disabled person or single parent wishing to appoint a testamentary guardian)
Legal Services Commission funding is available for people on low or limited incomes. A whole range of factors are taken into account in determining whether somebody is eligible for Legal Aid and our experienced solicitors can advise you as to whether you qualify at your first initial appointment.
When you come for your first appointment bring with you evidence of your income. This evidence must not be dated more than a month before the date of your appointment. If you are on benifit bring in your letter from the DWP which must not be more than six months old and your bank statement showing that you continue to get the benefit. That bank statement should not be more than a month old.
As most legal issues can easily become a costly business Legal Aid at TMJ Legal Services means that everyone can get the best possible service for the best possible price.
