Compromise Agreements
Results of a survey by the Chartered Institute of Personel and Development suggest that four out of ten employers are planning redundancies in the first quarter of this year.
Keith Morgan, senior employment lawyer at TMJ, cautions against accepting settlements without taking proper legal advice.
Many employers use Compromise Agreements to deal with redundancy situations. It is essential that anyone being asked to settle on the basis of a Compromise Agreement seeks independent advice from a qualified lawyer.
Usually the employer will pay the employee’s legal fees for independent legal advice on a Compromise agreement.
TMJ Legal Services has offices in Hartlepool, Peterlee, Wingate and Durham and we are prepared to see clients at short notice.
